Summary:
How we work, how we communicate, what we value reflects also in how we want to study. Teaching in higher education is determined on the one side with expectations by the new generations, that value more explicitly cooperation, flexibility, transparency, freedom of choice, exciting challenges etc. On the other hand, higher education has been in grips of neoliberal tendencies that have brought along expectations for educational systems to be more cost- and time-effective, standardized and measurable. What could be the role specifically for IHAE in this current climate – how could it function as a safe and exciting place for students and teachers alike? Key words like slow education, praise for mistakes and experimental methods might give a hint!
